(Sain-am Rock is one of the Danyang P'algyong-
the 8 Wonders of Danyang.)This impressive rock cliff, dotted with old pine trees, overhangs a clear stream. People often flock here to have a picnic while enjoying the beautiful scenery and the clear water. The overhanging cliffs mimic the craggy peaks of nearby Worak-san national Park.
In addition to its natural beauty, poetry by the famous Confucian scholar U T'ak (pen name- Yeoktong) is inscribed. the name Sa-in comes from the government rank held by U T'ak. The poem reads (translation by local government):

Something far superior to other things, indeed matchless, cannot be cast aside. There is nothing to be afraid of, even standing all alone. There is nothing to worry about, in this secluded life. |
At the base of the cliff is Ch'eongnyeon-am, the only building remaining from Daech'ung-sa
Temple that was built over 1,300 years ago. The temple was destroyed in 1876 during fighting with
the Japanese. In 1954, part of the remaining structure was moved to this point and rebuilt.
Built into the cliffs above Ch'eongnyeon-am is Samseong-gak, a small pavilion. It
created a sacred place for people to come and pray. The name comes from the 3 different Buddhist
saints to whom the pavilion is dedicated.
Upstream a few dozen meters sits a 200-year old pine tree. In the small park also sit two
monuments.
